Gambling and the IRS
Whenever you win more than twelve hundred dollars you and immediately expected to pay a 305 tax on the amount. Most of the casinos would pay you the winning amount after withholding your tax at the casino itself. Many people go ahead and gable for always trying to win less than $1000. It can’t be said whether it is wise to do so or not, but the fact remains that it is being done. No one likes to be charged taxes on the amount they win from gambling and their logic is very simple; they say that why should they pay taxes when they win in gambling when their losses are not subsidized by the IRS.
This is one of the reasons why the casinos retain the tax amount and then make the payout to winners. If you are a native American you are expected to pay the taxes, however if you are from another country and are able to prove that, you can actually get back the casino taxes that have been remitted to the IRS.
Very few non-Americans would be aware of the fact that something called “recovery of casino taxes” can be done. Once a non-American wins the casino simply keeps the IRS money and gives the rest to the winner, pretty much like what they do in the case of native Americans.
